That little garage became the foundation for everything that followed.
Frank built the business the old-fashioned way — by working, solving problems, taking care of customers and earning their trust. Over the years, the shop grew along with the customers and the trucking industry it served. Bays were added, capabilities expanded, and what began in one small garage became a family business that would continue through four generations.
1989 — THE FAMILY STEPS IN
In 1989, Frank passed away suddenly. At a time when the future of the garage could easily have gone in a different direction, Chuck and Pete stepped in to keep it open and continue what Frank had started.
1999–2000 — NAPA BECOMES PART OF THE STORY
The next major chapter came in 1999 with the purchase of NAPA, expanding the family business beyond the garage and further into the automotive and heavy-duty parts industry.
In 2000, NAPA moved to its current location at 4567 State Route 30 in Amsterdam, giving the growing parts operation a permanent home of its own.
2004 — ANOTHER GENERATION
In 2004, Chuck’s son Chucky began working in the garage, learning the business where generations before him had learned it — in the shop, doing the work.
2014 — THE 5S EXPANSION
In 2014, the property at 1961 State Route 5S was purchased, marking another major expansion for Frank’s Heavy Duty. The location added room for the business to grow its heavy-duty truck repair, parts, and truck and trailer parking operations and became an important part of what FHD is today.
2016 — THE PARTS SIDE CONTINUES
In 2016, Matt began working at NAPA, continuing the family involvement on the parts side of the operation.
2024 — FOUR GENERATIONS
In 2024, Caden began working at the garage, bringing the fourth generation into the same business whose roots can be traced back to Frank and that original single-bay shop in 1960.
Today, Frank’s Heavy Duty has grown far beyond that one bay. The business operates from three Amsterdam locations, providing heavy-duty truck repair, NAPA Auto & Truck Parts, heavy-duty truck parts, truck and trailer parking, and other services for the customers and fleets that depend on us.
The buildings are bigger. The equipment is different. The business has expanded. And each generation has added something of its own.
But after more than six decades, you can still trace everything back to that little garage.

FOUR GENERATIONS
Different years. Different roles. The same family business.
Four generations later, we’re still building on what Frank started.
